JEFF MONDRAGON has been shooting underwater and nature photography since 1990. He has undergraduate degrees in biology and zoology and a masters degree in marine biology. Jeff has worked as a scuba instructor and as a marine biologist for the National Park Service. He believes his education and work experience enable him to know his subject matter, aiding in his pursuit of excellent underwater and natural history images.
Leading a rather transitory lifestyle, Jeffs home is the west coast of North America. He can often be found diving and photographing from southern California to Alaska but he especially enjoys shooting underwater in British Columbia, Canada. His search for new photographic subjects has also taken him to Australia, Fiji, Honduras, Belize and Hawaii. Jeffs wife, Jennifer, often reminisces of the days when everything could fit into a backpack when they traveled!
Jeffs photos have been published in numerous national magazines, books and greeting cards. A partial list of clients includes: National Geographic Books, National Audubon books, Healthy Planet Publishing, AV Video and Multimedia Producer, Paddler Magazine, Canoe and Kayak Magazine, Oregon Coast Magazine and Sinauer and Associates Publishing.
